Village Roadshow Pictures Asia was established in 2011 to undertake the development, financing, production, marketing and distribution of films for Greater China.

VRPA works closely with Chinese and international creative talent, producers, co-financiers and distributors to identify, develop and co-produce films for release in Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, as well as in Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and beyond through VRPA’s affiliates. The majority of its projects are structured as Sino-foreign co-productions and filmed in Greater China. The company’s initial slate of films, released in 2013, include Stephen Chow’s Journey to the West and Leste Chen’s Say Yes!, and Zhong Kui: Snow Girl and the Dark Crystal, released in February 2015. Upcoming releases include Mountain Cry, which had its worldwide debut as the Closing Film at the 2015 Busan International Film Festival, Hide and Seek, currently scheduled for a fall 2016 release, and Reborn, scheduled for release in January 2017.

VRPA is also an investor and partner in Irresistible Films, a Hong Kong-based film production company that was founded by renowned producer Bill Kong to serve as an incubator for up and coming talent in the Greater China region.  Notable Irresistible film releases have included Cold War, Go Away Mr. Tumor and My Beloved Bodyguard; its upcoming Cold War 2 will be released in July 2016.
